Helping
your child to have healthy, strong long-lasting teeth lays the foundation
for a lifetime of good oral hygiene.
All molars
have grooves on the biting surfaces of the teeth. If they are
very deep and open, food and plaque will collect in these grooves
and they will decay quickly and easily. A sealant is one way we
can help you protect your child's molar teeth from cavities.
A sealant is
a very runny type of filling material that we place on your child's
tooth to seal the grooves. It takes only a few minutes at our office,
and can be done without any need for local anesthetic. If done early,
sealants can prevent your child's biting surface from ever decaying.
